@donv69- I would recommend adding a body movement to the pauses once in a while. You can do a slow shoulder roll, for example, on 3-4, and then continue to your 5-6-7. This will not only serve as a reminder for you to pause, but it also looks good. Another option is to change your counting to include the 4 and 8. Learning cha cha timing and syncopated salsa footwork patterns also really help to fully understand (and remember) this concept.
